Shadow Forest
'Shadow Forest' by Matt Haig was a very popular winner! Class 5 looked at the globe to find Norway and then used the internet to find pictures of Flǻm and some fjords so that they all had an idea of where Martha and Samuel went to live. It was then back to our 'reading lounge' where we all settled comfortably to listen to 'Shadow Forest'.
One last session in the 'reading lounge' to finish 'Shadow Forest'. Class 5 loved it!
It was then straight to work on the first part of their project, a 'Shadow Forest' collage. They wanted the collage to represent the atmosphere in the forest through the story and decided to do that by changing the colours.
They thought very carefully about characters in the book . The children have decided to make a book called 'Who's Who in Shadow Forest' to look at all the different personalities. They made a list of the characters in the book and then decided who was going to do which character. They had to think about all the facts they knew about them, and then use these facts to make deductions.
They also started doing the register in Norwegian .
