A Message from the Headteacher

The Nursery and Reception classes together make up the Foundation Stage, which we consider to be a facility that

enhances the whole school community.

The high quality Early Years education we provide ensures your child develops a solid foundation for their future learning.

The relationships and partnerships forged with you as parents, establishes a pattern that is continued throughout the school.

These links between home and school are vital in enriching and supporting your child's learning.

We look forward to a long and rewarding relationship between you and the school.

The Foundation Stage at Gillingstool includes the 52 place Nursery class, which the children attend from 3 years old, on a part time basis and the Reception class, which can provide education for 20 full time children from 4-5 years old.

Admissions are governed by South Gloucestershire?s Admission Policy.

The children follow the Foundation Stage curriculum, which is divided into six areas of learning:

· Personal, Social and Emotional Development

· Communication, Language and Literacy Development

· Mathematical Development

· Knowledge and Understanding of the World

· Physical Development

· Creative Development

The Nursery and Reception classrooms are carefully planned to offer many different, high quality activities and first hand experiences, within a happy and secure environment. The children benefit from the use of their own garden, as well as the school's facilities including the hall, libraries, computer suite, playgrounds and large field.
